December 10, 2024: Second Curve Returns to the Baker Botts “Beltway Buzz”
Thanks to Shailesh Sahay and the Baker Botts team for having Second Curve back on Beltway Buzz to discuss what comes next after the 2024 election. We discussed the election’s potential impacts on the energy and agricultural sections as well as the broader economy. And we took a deep dive into President Trump’s incoming Cabinet and the budget reconciliation legislation Congress is looking to craft on tax, energy, and border policy.
Next year promises massive policy decisions by the incoming Trump Administration and a Congress with razor-thin margins. Organizations need smart advocacy to navigate this complicated landscape. Let’s talk about how the Second Curve team can deliver for you!

June 2024
June 5, 2024: Strategic Energy 2024: A Dialogue on Challenges and Solutions
Second Curve Strategies Co-Founder Jennifer Linker joined other energy policy experts June 5 at a Hudson Institute panel discussion, “Strategic Energy 2024: A Dialogue on Challenges and Solutions.”
Some key points from Linker’s remarks, highlights of which can be viewed here:
• Global population will increase by 1.7 billion by 2050, and the need for industrial power continues to skyrocket via manufacturing, data centers, and other growth industries. To meet the world’s increasing energy demand, both electrons and molecules – electrification and fuels – will remain critical.
• Government policy can open the door to incentivize new energy supply more rapidly, with the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act’s new or expanded clean fuels, carbon capture, and hydrogen tax credits cited as enablers of more domestic development. Still, the free market will dictate scalability and where industry will make its significant capital investments for these projects and products.
• Drivers of energy demand will primarily be outside of the OECD countries, and the competition for lower-carbon energy sources will come from around the globe. American companies want to compete in these markets – and need these markets – to drive demand growth for their lower-carbon products. Understanding the nuances and interconnectivity of international policy in this space is imperative.
